Lighting
Turn off all lights when leaving a room. Use lamps instead of whole room lighting when a small amount of light is only required.
Try use compact fluorescent lamps (CFL’s) as these use a fraction of the electricity and last up to 10 times longer than ordinary light-bulbs
Appliances
Don’t leave any appliances on standby mode as this can use up to as much as half the electricity as when they are on. Check the energy rating on all appliances when you are buying them. Purchase ‘A’ Rated appliances whenever possible, they can save their replacement cost over their lifetime and benefit the environment.
Insulation
Install attic installation and/or top up existing insulation. Insulate your hot water tank by installing an insulation jacket.
Hot Water
Use the timer on your hot water cylinder, this should supply you with enough hot water as and when you need it. Heating systems
Use automatic heating controls to ensure heat is provided only when and where its needed
